Hellbrunn Palace in Salzburg
Hellbrunn Palace is one of the most famous baroque summer residences north of the Alps. What is the point of a summer residence, one may ask? Summer residences were palaces built for celebrating, for pleasure and recuperation – luxury in its purest form. The archbishops who once governed Salzburg “journeyed” to Hellbrunn especially in summer to surrender themselves utterly to worldly pleasures.
In the heart of the enchanting and historic Hellbrunn Park with its famous trick fountains is the 400-year-old holiday residence of Markus Sittikus, the former prince archbishop of Salzburg.
A worldwide unique ensemble of trick fountains and grottos after themes of Greek mythology and a mechanical theatre count among the most impressive sightseeing attractions within these enchanting grounds.
